Although I do like to chatter with you all personally, I really am not one to clutter up your inboxes with incessant updates and emails.  However, I really do have to send this one out, as it affects those of you who book with Danika.  It is with a very sad and sort of sulky face, that I have to tell you she is moving far from our little nest.  Her husband has been accepted at UC Berkeley and of course, he has accepted (selfish bugger!!!!!).  Danika’s last day will be October 31st.  She’ll extend her hours out before then, so if you would like to come in and see her soon, please email the girls at the front desk.

Courtney Corvan (who is trained up) will take over on Sundays and will now work Monday evenings also.  Which I think will be great for a lot of you who work close by.

I’ll get October over with, so I don’t have to send another at the end of the month.  And it’ll be quick.  I’m told the wine I just opened only needs 5 minutes of breathe before I inhale it, so here goes:

1.    AT LONG BLOODY LAST, we have our Saturday manicurist!  It really took that long to find somebody great.  So now we have Connie Flagg (who is still at Four Seasons when she’s not at Queen Bee), and Cameron Bailey.  Both will be able to work side-by-side, but more importantly, we now have two people so the manicure chair will be open EVERY day.  The menu will change up dramatically, so that now you can actually get a lunchtime mani/pedi - 50 minutes.  The “Perfect Quickie” is everything you need, sans the hot towels and massage.  That you will still get in the 80 minute “Spa-ahhh” mani/pedi.

SPECIAL    $38 The Perfect Quickie (Reg $45) Until October 25th.  (Saturdays will always be the busiest day for this, so let the girls know asap if you want this month)

Check the QB website http://www.QueenBeeWaxing.com as we’ve changed it up a bit.  Also, what was the “Hair Room” in the spa is being transformed into a private nail room - French Doors, tv/dvd player on the wall, Audrey Hepburn movies etc. etc.  Should be a nice place to put your feet up.

2.    Spray Tan    SPECIAL $25 in place until October 25th (normally $45 - $50)

3.    Facials        SPECIAL $65 in place until October 25th (normally $75)
The Facial Room has moved location and is being given a gorgeous face lift! Dawn and Sharon are planning on bringing in the Epicuren line, which a lot of you have requested.  We’re still testing products.  Again, facials are now available 7 days a week - early mornings, all day and up to 10pm.

Phew! It took us a while to find the perfect hand and nail team, but we are so excited to announce that we will have mani pedis 7 days a week - morning, noon and night!!

Also, look for the added “Quickie” mani pedi for people on the go!

September??!!!!  Are you serious?  It’s almost the end of September, and where the dickens did this year go!!!!!?  The most I remember is how many bottles of Pino I went through!!!

Welcome Dawnrenee Palomino!  Dawn is joining Sharon in our expanding skincare department and is our new Sunday and Monday facialist for day and evening appointments.  Dawn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, having worked for many years at a very reputable day spa in the South Bay. To celebrate Dawn’s arrival, all one hour facials on Sundays only, from now through October 25th will be $65 (reg $75)

Speaking of facials, Sharon and I have been hunting for a great peel for the fall to get rid of dead skin and excess sunscreen build up.  We found an amazing pumpkin peel that works wonders on the face, hands etc.  Our new peel for winter is:

Welcome Courtney Corvan Alovis!    Courtney will be joining us in the waxing and makeup department.  I’ve known Courtney for a while and her reputation is outstanding.  She has been in the biz for some time, and was a facialist and waxer at Kate Somerville in West Hollywood.  Since I am going to be training Courtney the Queen Bee waxy way, I am offering the following training specials next week - Thursday and Friday 10:00am-1:30pm.  Call Jenn at the shop asap if you want to get in on these specials. I am chuffed to bits that The Queen of Airbrush Tanning has joined Queen Bee.  Liz Pino of UVA Sun started her vocational life spraying cars!!!!  Now she’s doing excellent bodywork on us all.  Her spray tans grace the covers of many top magazines, and she is much in demand.  We are using UVA Sun products which are amazing, and believe me, we test drove them all.  Liz continues to work at UVA Sun, but now also mans our spray tan department on a regular basis.

SPECIAL -    Full Body Airbrush Tan    $25 (reg $50).  Offer ends Sunday, October 25th.

4.  FUNDRAISER FOR FIRE DEPT

I’ve been thinking for some time that we need to have a charitable event at Queen Bee.  Of course this would be in conjunction with some sort of party with alcohol and really scrumptious bites involved.  So, I’m putting it out there now, that the Friday before Halloween between about 5:00pm and 10:00pm I am planning to have a shindig at the shop (and perhaps involve some local restaurants).  I’ll send more information soon.  100% of the proceeds will go to the Culver City Fire Department.  We may hold a silent auction perhaps, and I will also be asking some men in uniform to come help us out (gotta match?).  All waxes and services will be discounted.
